One of the most touching moments in Imbi Paju’s life was her appearance at the 2006 Taiwan Film Festival. At first, it seemed unbelievable that Asian audiences could be touched by a film about the plight of Estonians under Soviet repression. However, Paju discovered that the Taiwanese people have similar stories: whenever a person is hurt by another person, their stories become similar, sharing and empathy are fostered, and human existence is healed and empowered.
