- The Finnish-Estonian documentary film Sisters Across the Gulf of Finland is completed

This is a memoir of Estonian and Finnish women involved in home defense organizations before World War II. The film is accompanied by rare archival footage. It explores from a female perspective the vulnerability of the individuals and small states where political games are played between large totalitarian states. The archival footage shows the rise of totalitarianism in 1930s Europe and the decline of democracy. The old women featured in the film lived through difficult times, but through their warmth and humanity provide viewers with a sense of hope that good will ultimately triumph over evil.
