After Nikita Khrushchev’s removal from power, the Soviet regime began to persecute the author.<\/p>\n

For those who grew up in this time of the terror, denial of memories was the only way to survive. Memories Denied <\/strong>emerged from Imbi Paju\u2019s need to understand her mother\u2019s experiences.<\/p>\n

The publication of the anthology Fear Behind Us All<\/strong> by Imbi Paju and Sofi Oksanen on March 25, 2009 marked 60 years since the March deportations in Estonia and 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain. \u201cThis is a book about the price that Estonia had to pay in order for the most violent utopia known to mankind to be implemented \u2013 about how Estonians lost their history and then got it back\u201d reads the press release by the compilation\u2019s publisher WSOY.<\/p>\n
