The Gardener of Kadriorg takes both young and old on a journey into Estonia’s green history. Through the eyes of little Käbi we travel into the 1960s, when Estonia was under foreign rule; however, the stories passed from generation to generation kept alive the people’s love for their green world of nature – the green legacy and traditions that had been created by a small, independent European country before it was grabbed by the foreign regime.

No Man Is an Island:  Three Essays on the Gulag Archipelago. This work is dedicated to the publication of the book Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, a book that was published 50 years ago in the West. After Nikita Khrushchev's removal from power, the Soviet regime began to persecute the author.

In Literary Clinic, I have used the writings of various Estonian, Finnish, Latvian, Swedish, American, German, Russian and other writers to create a space where we can deal with our personal and collective wounds, as well as memory and history, in an empathetic, sympathetic and emotionally intellectual atmosphere, to think about our present and future, the environment and nature, the courage to live and love.

Memories Denied: During the Soviet occupation in the 1940s and 1950s, tens of thousands of Estonians were arrested and deported to Siberia. Among them were Imbi Paju’s mother and her twin sister. For those who grew up in this time of the terror, denial of memories was the only way to survive. Memories Denied emerged from Imbi Paju’s need to understand her mother’s experiences.

The book has been published in Estonian, Finnish, Swedish, Russian, German, English, Hungarian, Romanian and Ukrainian.

The publication of the anthology Fear Behind Us All by Imbi Paju and Sofi Oksanen on March 25, 2009 marked 60 years since the March deportations in Estonia and 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain. “This is a book about the price that Estonia had to pay in order for the most violent utopia known to mankind to be implemented – about how Estonians lost their history and then got it back” reads the press release by the compilation’s publisher WSOY.
